Championship Draws

Championship Draws

The creation of Championship schedules is a collaborative process between the WCBA, the provinces, and the Host.

The draws below provide a standard format for Championships. However, the WCBA is not limited to these formats.

Game times shall be established based on whether or not the Host has lights on their park.

Collaborative Process

  1. The Competitions Coordinator shall work with the Host to create a draft schedule for the Championship.

  2. The completed draft schedule shall be sent to the Secretary/Treasurer for approval.

  3. The approved schedule shall be sent to the provinces for ratification.

Host Selection of Letter

The Host shall select their letter in each draw.

Placement of Teams in Each Draw

In Draw C, the placement of teams after the Host selects their position shall be done as follows:

  • A – Host

  • B – Last year’s host

  • C – Second to host

  • D – Host province

  • E – Next to host

The Host is not required to take position A. If the Host does not take position A, then the province’s position claimed by the Host moves to position A.

In all other draws, the position of teams is determined by a random draw after the Host selects their position.

Designation of Home Team

The use of the symbol @ indicates the home team.

When a coin toss is used to determine the home team in the round robin, the WCBA reserves the right to conduct these coin tosses virtually when the schedule is created.

Whether a tiebreaker game is played is indicated in the rules and in each draw.
